The government rakes in moolah from petrol prices while giving away record subsidies to the economically disenfranchised. Keeps current account deficit under control (<2%) even while the rupee gets hammered on the exchange.

Thanks to DBT massive leakages are plugged in the process of giving subsidies. The RBI does a credit squeeze to keep inflation under control, and cracks down on Banks to reduce NPA. Meanwhile government pumps up investment in healthcare, insurance and power, and hard sells the story of 'ease of doing business in India', to Korea, Japan and the world.

The big mother ship chugs ahead silently through troubled waters, bracing for the storm ahead, trying to balance myriad expectations from hundreds of wailing constituencies on board. Ram Mandir or Masjid, Beef or No Beef, OBC or SC..The list stretching to infinity and beyond.

Meanwhile the conscientious urban citizens of "Facebook India", first crib about the petrol prices, then crib about farm subsidies, then crib about privacy violations due to aadhar. They crib about Shabri, they crib about hinduvta, they crib about cost of statues.

But not the rising cost of their Gucci Bags or Chanel perfumes, QLED TVs or Bimmers. Foreign trips, expensive eat outs and 5 star staycations stay kosher this Diwali.

Sardar who ?.. they raise their eyebrows, while toasting to some pale ale at the comedy clubs, listening with glazed eyes to their not so cool dost narrating the story of the engineering marvel of a statue that could potentially payback the investment in a decade from tourism alone.

Bunch of Nincompoops Bro, comes the verdict.
