Confessions of a Leader

Leaders don’t take the easy way out Writing out cheques, shoving pink slips. They don’t act out of fear jumping on Bandwagons, quarantined on social walls.

When the going gets rough, leaders hit pause Instead of adding to the noise, they tune out.

Retreating to virgin islands with sharpened pencils They put ideas on paper and prepare to sacrifice. Costs must be cut and lives must be saved But not before putting up a bloody good fight.

The soldiers at the frontline sweat in agony Burdened with oppressive heat in 1RHK bunkers Caricatured faces and platitudes of garrison heads Ring hollow against the backdrop of bird songs

No clear view of the enemy in dark, yet the candle light vigil is in the works Bean counters scurry from one projection to other Entire machine is intubated, blood traces everywhere

We must all wait for dawn, messages the leader From the safety of his island preaches fortitude

Let’s go off air, make sanitisers and soap Garner some brand love, pump hollow hope Let’s not forget that our bottom line is greed we must pile on profits, remain servile to it

With the soldiers on mute watching theatre of the absurd Leaders make some noise, light lamps and gather

This too shall pass says them wise ones, but not before we make a killing brother, business seems well spun.

These pandemics are deadly and unplanned for sure The world needed a reset, purging small business and more Shorted a lot, then bought back those shares Business will now be as usual on busy thoroughfares.

The club will then meet at Davos and beyond To raise a toast to mankind For winning another war.
